East Valley Volunteer Wins Phoenix Suns Tickets

“Once you know someone who is personally affected by diabetes, it really opens your eyes. You realize how devastating it can be for people so young – they’re just children,” explained Patricia Stricklin.

Patricia, a Keller Williams real estate agent in the East Valley, was one of more than 25,000 participants at the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes on October 31st in Tempe, Arizona.  She walked the 5k course as part of a 20 member group named the “S.P. Posse” in honor of a friend’s daughter who suffers from type 1 or “juvenile” diabetes. It was the first time that Patricia had attended the event and she was impressed by the turnout.

“It was wonderful to see so many people supporting such a great cause,” she said. “I will definitely be back next year.”

Following the walk, Patricia and fellow teammates enjoyed live music and strolled past tents provided by the event’s corporate partners, stopping at the Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance booth.

“In this economy, it was great to see so many corporate sponsors still willing to contribute to a valuable event,” Patricia observed.

In appreciation of all of the volunteers and participants, Angel MedFlight sponsored a contest to win two tickets to the Phoenix Suns, November 22nd game against the Detroit Pistons. Patricia completed her form and entered the drawing. Later that day, her entry was drawn as the winner.

Patricia plans to share her good fortune with a friend who is a U.S. veteran. Her generosity is especially appropriate with the national celebration of Veteran’s Day less than a week ago. Both women are Suns fans and are looking forward to the game.

“Thank you for the tickets. I really appreciate it. I know we’ll have a great time!” Patricia concluded.
