Every day, the Angel MedFlight team goes above and beyond the air ambulance industry standards to ensure that patients are comfortable and receive exceptional care.
To accommodate the needs of a recent patient, the Angel MedFlight team customized an in-flight stretcher which is also known as a transport sled. The team fabricated the sled for a 14-year-old boy who was placed in a body cast from the chest down. The width of the sled was expanded from the standard 16 inches to 29 inches wide to provide additional comfort on his 2,554 mile cross-country flight from New Jersey to California. All transport sleds at Angel MedFlight will soon receive the same upgrade, allowing the medical crew to configure the sled to suit the needs of each individual patient.
Below is a short video of the team working on the new sled configuration.
