Lillian Trippe was a beaming child who had a magical effect on those around her. She was happiest while bug-hunting, singing and dancing, and twirling around dressed in full princess regalia.
She was also a little girl who had been battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia since before she could walk. She spent hundreds of days and nights in Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, receiving chemotherapy, radiation, two bone marrow transplants and other powerful medications in an effort to stamp out the fast-growing cancer.
Throughout her treatment, during good days and bad, Lilli always remained hopeful and lived each day to the fullest. While visiting her grandmother, Lilli took a turn for the worse and was hospitalized far from the medical team who had been treating her nearly her entire life. Angel MedFlight flew Lilli from Tennessee to Oregon to reunite her with her oncologists and give her the best possible chance at a positive outcome.
Sadly, leukemia claimed Lilli’s life in July of 2011, and she is greatly missed. Lilli was lit from within, and her glowing spirit remains today. All who knew her remember her, and she has inspired thousands more.
We are honored to share Lilli’s story with you as our most recent Inspiring Story.
