As a premier world-wide air medical transport provider, delivering a patient to a healthcare facility safely and quickly is of utmost importance. With that in mind, Aviation West Charters, Inc., is in the process of acquiring a Cessna Citation X.
Angel MedFlight already operates a fleet of state-of-the-art medically dedicated Learjets but the Citation X raises the bar in speed and efficiency. The Citation X is the world’s fastest fully certified civilian aircraft, capable of reaching Mach .92 (700 miles an hour) — just shy of the sound barrier.
Unlike most business jets that must operate at reduced speeds to carry out long-range missions, the Citation X will fly at cruising speeds of Mach .82 and higher, achieving transcontinental range. This includes trans-Atlantic missions and would help to broaden the reach of Angel MedFlight.
Brandon Kearns, flight operations director for Aviation West Charters, says the Citation X is one of the most popular super mid-sized jets to have been used in the last 20 years. He says the Citation X “is the fastest airplane that can get you from coast to coast and back in the same day.” He adds, “it’s the only airplane out there where you can really, logistically wake up in the morning on the West Coast, go to New York, have a meeting and get back to L.A.”
A long-range medium business jet aircraft, the Citation X is powered by two Rolls-Royce turbofan engines. It’s unique from other members of the Citation family as the wing, tail, tail cone, gear and systems are designed from scratch and not based on existing aircraft.
The Citation X is built by the Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kan.
Inside, the Citation X features a Garmin G5000 integrated Flight Deck. Three 14-inch LCD screens greatly increase the information display area. There are also four user-friendly touch screen control panels that offer unparalleled ease of access and reduced pilot workload.
Aviation West Charters is the parent company of Angel MedFlight. AWC is a fully insured, FAA-approved air charter company based in Scottsdale, Ariz., specializing in luxury air charter for both business and personal travel.
AWC’s safety record is excellent and is rated ARGUS Gold. As an FAA Part 135 Charter Operator, Aviation West Charters complies with all FAA rules and regulations.
Adding the Citation X to its already impressive fleet would only boost Angel MedFlight’s reputation as a leader and innovator in air ambulance service.
